FSWO offers a series of events and training sessions throughout the year.
Fire Service Women Ontario (FSWO), in partnership with Ottawa Fire Services , is proud to offer a free, in-person Resilient Minds training session on June 17, 2026.
This one-day training opportunity is open to anyone working in the fire service and is designed to provide practical tools that support mental readiness, resilience, and peer support in high-stress environments.
This workshop will be presented virtually, live from jona's home in New Mexico. This powerful session will encourage women to examine the harmful impact of a lifetime of sexist messages that can cause competent women to doubt their own judgment, competence and leadership capacity as well as that of other women. Self-confidence is a requirement for success in fire/emergency service. Most female responders have overcome many of the sexist comments, behaviours and policies that challenged them in reaching their current positions, but their own internalized sexism may still be holding them back from reaching their full potential. Participants will confront the internal doubts that undermine performance and their support of other female firefighters, while exploring practical strategies to overcome those doubts and build unshakeable confidence. This session offers a safe space to address the unique challenges women face in our industry and develop tools to silence that inner critic once and for all.
NOTE: This session is open to women only.
