two $10,000 scholarships to the 12-week Full-Time Firefighter Training

Scholarship #1: FSWO Changing Careers Scholarship: For those brave enough to begin
This $10,000 scholarship is for women interested in a career in firefighting, no matter your background. Whether you have a high school or university education, or come from another job in the military, healthcare, trades, or another demanding profession, this award is designed to fuel your next chapter. If you’re ready to bring your life experience, skills and resilience into the fire hall—this scholarship is for you.
Scholarship #2: FSWO Legacy in Fire Scholarship: Honouring those who carry the torch
This $10,000 scholarship is for women with a direct family connection to the fire service. If you have a relative who has served in the fire service, we want to honour your legacy and help you step into your own fire service journey. This award recognizes the intergenerational strength and commitment that fuels our profession.
Timeline:
- Oct 1, 2025: Scholarship applications open
- December 15, 2026: Application deadline for April 2026 start
- January 30, 2026: 1st Winner announced
- March 15, 2026: Application deadline for July 2026 start
- April 15, 2026: 2nd Winner announced
Eligibility Criteria:
- Identify as a woman
- Be physically and mentally prepared for the demands of firefighting
- Demonstrate commitment to public service and community leadership
- Be 18 years or older by April 1, 2025
- Eligible to work and study in Ontario
- Hold a valid Ontario Class G driver’s license
How to Apply:
Applicants must submit a completed online application form that includes:
1. A personal statement (500–750 words) outlining your passion for firefighting, leadership potential, and how this scholarship will impact your life
2. Resume or CV
3. Letter of recommendation (academic, professional, or community)
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until March 15, 2026.
