Since joining the firefighting community in 2014, Kate Jamieson has built a career defined by leadership, mentorship, and innovation across both military and civilian fire services. She currently serves as a Sergeant, Firefighter, and Chief Fire Inspector at 14 Wing Greenwood in the Royal Canadian Air Force, where she has become a respected leader and advocate for greater inclusion in the fire service.
One of Kate’s most impactful contributions was leading a national initiative that secured funding for female-identifying firefighters to attend the FSWO Symposium—an effort that helped remove barriers to access and strengthened connections between military and civilian fire services across Canada.
Her commitment to Fire Service Women Ontario has been equally significant. Kate has served in several key leadership roles, including Treasurer, Communications Chair, and Co-Chair of the Financial Sustainability Committee. In these roles, she modernized sponsorship programs, strengthened FSWO’s media presence, and co-authored the award-winning case study United by Equity: Building a National Network of Inclusive Fire Leadership, which received national recognition from the CAFC in 2025.
Kate has also been a driving force behind FSWO’s Annual Symposiums, helping deliver three consecutive sold-out events while expanding partnerships and reinforcing the organization’s commitment to inclusion. Her work reflects the qualities she brings to every role: inspiration, perseverance, ethical leadership, collaboration, and resilience.
While she may be nearing the end of this chapter of her career in uniform, Kate Jamieson’s influence on the fire service—and on the next generation of leaders—is far from over. Her impact will continue to be felt in the paths she has helped open and the community she has helped strengthen.
