After the Fire- Fire Investigations and the use of a Canine

• This session will discuss the role of a Fire Investigator and how fire fighters can support fire Investigations. We’ll review the use of an accelerant detection canine (ADC) in fire investigation along with life with a fire department canine at work and home.

Jodie Grisdale has been with the Calgary Fire Department for 14 years. After several years working as a firefighter, Jodie became a Fire Investigator. This is a role she enjoys as she is able to work closely with firefighters and the Calgary Police Arson unit to support citizens through one of the most challenging events in their lives. Today, Jodie works as a Fire Investigator in the unique and rewarding role as a canine handler to Willow, the Calgary Fire Department’s Accelerant Detection Canine.
