Jennifer Gordon
Jenn has recently graduated with honours from the Pre-service Firefighting program Conestoga College. Jenn also received the David Ferrede Health and Safety Award for her safe practices on the fire grounds. Firefighting has been a dream of hers for many years and she now has the opportunity to make that dream a reality. She also works full time at her family’s business. Previously, she worked as a Sales and Training Co-ordinator where she was involved with new hire training and event planning. She is very honoured to have been selected as the Student Director on the FSWO board of directors for the second year in a row. Jenn enjoys continuous education and is working towards her Teacher Trainer of Adults Certificate with Conestoga College.
Jenn is very involved in the community and loves to volunteer. She volunteers every year at the Operation Christmas Child sorting warehouse and helps pack shoeboxes. In 2014, she travelled with OCC to Nicaragua to deliver the shoeboxes directly to the children. In August 2017 she travelled to Cambodia to work with Samaritans Purse on a water project. The goal of the water project was to install water filtration systems to individual families as well as schools and to teach the families and children about sanitation and the importance of hand washing. She is also a volunteer with St. John Ambulance.
Last year Jenn had the incredible opportunity to create a session for people who were contemplating a career change and interested in learning more about the fire service and having some hands-on experience. There was an incredible turn out last year with people of all ages coming together to learn and knowledge share about something they are mutually interested in and passionate about. Jenn is looking forward to another amazing session this year at the 10th anniversary conference.
