Rope Rescue Small Team Tactics and Techniques

Rope Rescue small team tactics and techniques will be tailored to the skill levels of participants. Previous experience is not required! Our goal is to provide a learning environment that will provide an opportunity to gain hands on experience with a variety of rope rescue systems. We aim to provide a fun, informative session that focuses on safety and efficiency working with rope rescue systems. In addition, each person will get the opportunity to work in the vertical environment.

PPE Requirements:

safety shoes or boots. Preferably with ankle support

protective eyewear

gloves that fit well, not firefighting gloves

helmet and harness if you have one. If not they will be provided.

Peter Roy-Smith

Peter hails from Australia, bringing some military rope rescue with him. Moving to interior BC to begin learning the Canadian way on ski resorts. Now in Ottawa, ON – Peter has solidified his education with certification in NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue Technician and now instructs for Ottawa Fire Serice as a member of Station 12 and USAR OnTF4. Real world calls have ranged in Low, Medium, High Angle and technical situations in both urban and rural environments.
