Explore technical rescue through the experiences of our own members. This session will include information about various specialty training methods from women across Canada. Learn about HUSAR, High Angle, Heavy Rescue, Ice Rescue, Swift Water Rescue and Hazmat and how these disciplines are executed in a variety of departments.
Jenn Dawkins has been a member of Vancouver Fire Rescue Services since 2000. She is currently working as a Training Officer managing the Heavy Rescue / RIT portfolio. During her career she has been part of HUSAR, Hazmat and Heavy Rescue. She became an FSWO board member earlier this year. Jenn is a proud dog mom to Shiloh Shepherd Emma and enjoys participating in Rally Obedience together.
Julie Petruzzellis has been a firefighter with Toronto Fire Services since 2006. She has been with Toronto’s HUSAR team since 2017 and is also an Assistant Training Instructor in Swift Water and Ice Water Rescue. Julie is also a Fire Service Women Ontario board member. When she’s not at work or spending time with her kids, her favourite place to be is in some fresh water, trying to swim like the fishes.
