Tricks of the Trade

• This session is for knowledge sharing! We’ll talk all things firefighting. My goal is to pass on some tips and tricks I’ve learned throughout my career. I say this phrase often, “find a technique that works for you, and get good at it”. As a smaller firefighter, finding the technique that works for me is important and can be empowering. Some topics we will discuss include: SCBA, Hose Lines, Forcible Entry, Search and Rescue, and Ladders.

Jess Clermont has been a Firefighter with Toronto Fire Services since 2008. She has specialities in forcible entry, RIT, and High-Rise Ops. She is an instructor at TFS as well as Centennial and Fleming College Firefighter Pre-Service Programs. Her favorite weapons are hockey sticks and halligan bars. She has 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 1 human
