This hands-on course is designed for firefighters who have a foundational knowledge of pump operations and are ready to build upon their skills for more complex and dynamic fireground scenarios. Through classroom instruction and practical exercises, participants will deepen their understanding of fire pumps and learn strategies to maximize water supply and efficiency under a variety of operational conditions including;

This course is ideal for firefighters seeking to enhance their operational effectiveness, problem-solving skills, and readiness for pump operator roles in both career or volunteer settings. Each participants time at the pump panel will be tailored to their skill level and requirements as an urban or rural firefighter.

Eric De Melo

Eric DeMelo brings over 20 years of firefighting experience to his role as a pump operations instructor. He began his career as a volunteer firefighter, where he first developed a strong passion for pump operations. That passion carried through as he transitioned into a career firefighter with a large municipal fire service, gaining more urban frontline experience. Eric is now a Training Officer for Orangeville Fire Department, where he shares his deep knowledge of fire ground hydraulics and apparatus operations. Known for his practical, hands-on teaching style, Eric is committed to preparing firefighters with the skills and confidence needed to operate pumps effectively and safely under pressure.
