Today's front-line firefighters are responding to an evolving range of hazards that extend far beyond traditional fire suppression. From lithium-ion battery and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) incidents to rail transportation emergencies, clandestine drug labs, and the growing threat of fentanyl being used as a weapon of mass destruction, today's risks demand a new level of awareness and preparedness.

This session focuses on what firefighters across Canada need to know to recognize these emerging hazards, understand the risks, and operate safely. Through real-world examples and practical takeaways, participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively to incidents that are becoming increasingly common in today's fire service.
