Although the lowest percentage of downed firefighter rescues are performed by RIT, when required they are high acuity assignments. Regardless of how your department approaches RIT, this session will expose you to the mindset, skills, and strength and stamina required to rescue on of our own as part of a Rapid Intervention Team.
The training will be broken into 4 one-hour hands-on stations:
- 24’ Ground Ladder Deployment – Highlighting solo Firefighter pick-ups, carry and throws.
- Downed Firefighter assessment, problem solving, air options, and SCBA conversions.
- Horizontal Movement – Solo and two Firefighter drags
- Elevation Changes – Up and Down Stairs, and window and ladder removals.
Requirements: Students will require full PPE and SCBA with a spare cylinder.
