How did you feel about the success of the water supply at your last rural fire? Getting your water supply set up right at a rural fire can make the difference in how quickly you can be successful or frustrated. In this HOT course we explore a number of different rural water set ups and scalable set-ups, including porta tanks and rural hitches (Clappered Siamese). This course will include a classroom presentation, table top dioramas and HOT demonstrations. We will also discuss different adaptations and strategies depending on the equipment available to your department.

Miranda Hussey

Miranda Hussey has been a volunteer with King Fire and Emergency Services since 2013 and currently holds the rank of Assistant Platoon Chief. She is also a full-time firefighter with Markham Fire and Emergency Services. When she’s not busy with firefighting Miranda is an avid hockey player and a mom of two boys, ages 5 and 7. Miranda has enjoyed attending the FSWO Symposium for the last 3 years and is looking forward to instructing and sharing her knowledge with others.

Kent Gallant

Kent Gallant, is a 3rd generation firefighter who has been in the fire service for over 13 years and is currently a Captain with King Fire and Emergency Services. Certified in Officer I, INSTR II, ISO, and Pump Ops, Kent is committed to growth and education in the fire service through continued personal development, training and through his sole proprietorship Praxis Fire Solutions. Kent specializes in creating miniature model fire training props for the hands-on learners of the fire services, such as Tabletop dioramas used for rural water demonstrations that help the learner visualize and absorb information by engaging stimulus and creating positive learning outcomes.
